splish splash

Last night, bath time was extra fun! I had to snap some shots. Eating bubbles may not be the best idea, huh Lil?

So naptime is becoming a little more interesting these days. For instance, if we are out and about, which we were this morning, she will fall asleep in the car 2 miles from the house. THEN we get home, I sneakily retrieve her from the car seat, place her in the crib and BOOM she is WIDE awake. I immediately leave the room in hopes that she will fall back asleep, then the crying begins. For the most part she will fall back asleep, although with a few tears involved. Today, we got back from our walk/run on the W&O, she was in a deep sleep, I placed her in the crib, got in the shower and throughout the whole shower this is what I heard.....Unfortunately I didn't get the best of it, but I was sure she was singing!

My man, Pat McGee

Over the years my love for Pat McGee has only grown stronger! This past weekend I was lucky enough to see him in concert yet again! He opened for Vertical Horizon at the Belmont Green Summer Concert series. It was not as good turn out for Pat, but all the more for me to see :) He never disappoints me with his love for fans and lovely music playing. Pat recently chopped his hair off and I liked it! Mike's family got a good laugh at my enthusiasm when he entered the stage.

Right after this picture was taken he said, "Oh wait, was that weird? I feel like I made a weird face!" Ooops, Mike and I didn't catch it until after we walked away. Sorry Pat, I love you still :)
Thank you to my wonderful husband for being such a supporter of my loving and adoring Pat McGee. He also enjoys his shows and enjoys watching my giddiness as he enter the stage. A special thank you for missing the JMU/MARYLAND game to take me to the show! They lost, but I know that Mike would have liked to join his friends at the game.

GO DUKES!

We were joined by Mike's brothers Andy and Rob. I must say it is quite difficult to get photos of the Peterson boys, but this particular shot I am very proud of. Alicia was very pleased with Andy actually looking at the camera and even smiling. He was sooo happy to be spending time with his wife:) Unfortunately the shot of Lori and Rob was not the best because Rob wasn't even looking at me, AND his eyes were closed. I may not be able to document that the two of them were there, BUT they were!

Seeing pictures of me with glasses is still very new, so here's to me showing them off.
It was a sportful weekend....(yes I know it's not a word but it seemed like an appropriate word at the time) Lily showed off her new gear which I am sure will get much use this season. I am still waiting on the redskin tutu from my Mom, AND we need to make a headband...remember? Lily's staple!

Hail to the REDSKINS!

OBX, Happy Birthday, Golf

Apparently when it comes to blogging lately, it just hasn't been my forte! I'm thinking that since Lily is now semi on the move I am a little apprehensive to sit my butt down by the computer and type away. Her ability to roll over has amazed me. Although I believe she has the strength to crawl, for the time being, rolling is her choice of transporting. In addition to her rolling, putting things in her mouth have reached an all time high. No matter how much I vacuum, Lily will somehow find the smallest grain of dirt, or sliver of cat hair pick it up and put it in her mouth. So you can only imagine something of a choking hazard.

Here Lily sits, right at my feet so I can blog. She indeed pulled most everything off the shelf for a snack.

Beach week, but not so much beach......

The week had finally arrived, we were headed to Nags Head for our only vacation of the summer. Our group included our family, and my nurse friends :) In the past this week has been labeled NURSE-A-PALOOZA but this week was a bit more tame with Lily involved. The week started out great with sun and heat, but quickly was shot by the rain and wind. I must say my expectations for a tan and time in the ocean was ruined by the weather! All in all we made the best of it and enjoyed our company. Our days were full of relaxation, games, eating and drinking! Mike, Lily and I were also able to go on good walks and take a lunch trip to our favorite shack on the beach, Sam and Omies!

The rain rolls in and Lily watches :)

I experience golf for the first time on Labor Day! Our good friends Kevin and Sarah completed our foursome. My golf game is completely and totally inconsistent! On one hand I am super good at driving the ball, THEN on the other I can be really good at putting, but somehow I can't do them both on the same hole. A common phrase "Practice makes perfect" comes to mind! The highlights of the afternoon include quality time with Mikey, my luck of par on a par 3 hole, and on the 18th hole driving the ball over a small lake which skipped on the water about 15ft from the green! I was the only one to hit the green on the first try! GO ME!

We went for a mohawk look after bath time. Turns out she is super cute no matter the 'do'

Happy Birthday Jaime!

I realize I totally slacked in this years birthday celebrations. In comparison to Kara's I stink as a friend. There was no cake and no video. Sorry Jaime! I love you the same! Instead we spent some quality crab time at Steamers in Bethesda. Unfortunately the 'all you can eat' crabs were not quite in our budget so we indulged in some scrumptious snow crab legs and Maryland Blue Crab Cakes. YUMO!

The only thing this picture proves is how big my little Lil is getting. Because I am still nursing her, I don't get to witness her bottle skills that Mike speaks of. While we ate dinner Lily sucked down her bottle with no help from her parents. How cute, but how sad!

I'm behind!

EEEK, too much to say, post, capture, etc, in the past two weeks that I don't know where to begin! I feel like we have been sooo busy with work, then family/friends outings that I haven't had time to sit and think.

Here is a list so we can check off the moments as they are described in chronological order....

1. New CAR: White 2006 Subaru Tribeca

After many months of bugging Mike to even LOOK at cars, I finally got my way one Sunday day. It was an enjoyable experience at Carmax and I highly suggest them for used car deals! As most of you know my preferred car was a Jeep Commander, but after many talks of my frequent driving to and fro a decent gas guzzler was more important. Mike stumbled upon the Tribeca among the other SUVs and sure enough we both REALLY liked it! The plus...it's white and I LOVE white cars. I look super cute in it (wink wink) and so does the Lil. I think she is even enjoying her new ride! Thank you Carmax, and Mike for supplying me with contentment!
Next Stop, Deep Creek Lake
2. Already mentioned in another post, but well worth the trip!
3. Last week, I worked 3 nights in a row! It was exhausting, but I wouldn't have survived without the help of my Mother and Sister-in-laws. They kept Lily all day so I could sleep. It was different not spending all day with my baby even when I am tired. I grew to appreciate my time at home with Lily! Needless to say I was happy that at 1am on the third night I was asked to go home. I said, yes, jumped in my car and was even able to spend one more night with Mikey before he left for 'Vegas Baby'
4. Mike leaves for Vegas, Lauren to Smith Mountain Lake with the girls. It was the perfect distraction to Mike being in 'sin city', although I was secretly happy he was finally able to make the trek across country with his boys. They had a great time together, but next time, I GO :)
The Peed Family Lake House: Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia

My Dear Friend Laura...what a great host she and her parents were!! Their house was just right for our little group. Lily, Christie and I bunked in one of the bedrooms, and although Lily ended up in the bed with us each night, we slept soundly. The rest of the crew enjoyed nights of sleep on air mattresses and couches...suckas, hehe! Each morning we gathered for coffee and a filling breakfast then headed down the hill to the lake for sun and fun...and drinks.

The Emperor

Where we spent the majority of our time, even to the point that it needed more air the day we left. This raft was AMAZING, and even Lily could safely join us because there was netting at the bottom to create a wading pool effect. It was great! We were cooled by the lake, bathed by the sun and protected by the biting fishies (unless you went overboard to pee, Christie hehe)Then the fun began...tubing and jet skiing! Here we are getting ready...Once again, the no make up look..not so good, but here Bev and I get ready.Pumped!Laura = the more daring driver, Amanda= the more cautious driver. Jaime was a trooper to my tight grip around her waste and yelling in her ears. She claims I provided good sound effects to Laura's driving. After some quick runs, riding the wakes and having the wind blow in our face we attached the tube... Pretty much all of us agreed that our age has caught up to us, and flying off the tube and hitting the water at 40 miles an hour isn't so much fun anymore. We all complained at the slaps of water on our thighs and getting headaches of bouncing up and down too hard. Still...fun!Jaime and I

How could I forget Lily??? She was such a great sport while I soaked in the sun. I was able to bring the pac n play down to the dock and sit it in the shade for her to rest and play around in. Such a good baby I have on my hands! I am truly blessed for all those who surround me!

I am super happy to have Mike home, and I look forward to our upcoming weekend at home, together as a family!

Deep Creek Lake 2009

It was a fun filled family weekend at Deep Creek Lake! Two beautiful houses, 22+ family members, good food, good weather, beautiful views, a boat, a banana boat, family portraits, and lots of love. This just about sums up our weekend. In honor of my grandparents 75th birthdays a surprise weekend to the lake was organized by my aunts. Secret letters were sent to their house describing events planned for the weekend and they were whisked away Wednesday evening to their final destination..Deep Creek Lake. They obviously figured out they would be spending a weekend with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, but they didn't know where or why. They were just so 'happy' as my Pop put it to be surrounded by alllll(minus two grandchildren) their family.

Lily enjoying the water splashing up on her chunky legs
Together they are daughters, sisters, mothers, aunts and NOW Grandmothers :)

A celebration of 75 plus years and counting...so happy!

Banana Boat action on Deep Creek Lake
The girls showing off before our banana boat ride!

Our idea of fun...dancing in a family room! Gotta love the family get together...can barely live with them, but CAN'T live with out them! Like Mother like Daughter! The Mo Mo and the Me Maw livin' it up.
The no make up thing isn't the best look for me, although always nice to pose with my baby brother!

My Anne Geddes Baby!
My Mom was sure that a picture in the hostas would be super cute, so I followed her lead and sure enough.... CUTE

Goodbye to Kara and Mike

It is the eve of Kara and Mike's departure to San Diego.....sad face, sad face, sad face! I said my goodbyes to Kara today and after spending a couple hours together, stalling our final hug, it was nice to leave quickly and abruptly. Lily was a bit fussy and it was a good reason to leave, therefore Kara and I didn't spend time reminiscing over all the amazing time spent together. We, of course, date back to Oakton High School, although our true friendship started in Floyd Hall at Radford University. I think of things like 'power hour Monday Night Football', our lofts, our hot pots, then onto DZ, alpha lamda style, big sis revealing, 110-fun, Jamaica, our 21st birthdays, Italy, Tennessee, Tuckahoe, wedding prep, baby prep...the list goes on. We have been through it all in the past 9 years and I can only count on the future to be even more eventful! I love you Kar, for who you are and everything you have done for me! I already miss the fact I can't spend an evening on my back porch drinking and chatting with you. I feel it is what we do the best... chatting :) I can't wait to hear about you and Mike's new life together in San Diego! Good Luck, God Bless, we LOVE YOU!!!!
Here are a few pics from this weekend at Ned's for their goodbye party!

BABY HEADBANDS

Ever since Lily was a wee little baby, I have been forcing accessories on her head. I feel that it is appropriate for a little girl to know the importance of accessories at a young age, and if not started early, she will reject them...hehe j/k when it is her choice she can decide whether or not she likes them or not, until then, I think baby headbands are SUPER cute and add so much to her look :) Lately I have noticed that I have pretty much exhausted her headbands I currently have and am looking for new ones. I have thought about trying to make them myself, since afterall Anne did make some of them, but I just don't think I am that crafty. Instead I was given a few websites to look into. Boy are they pricey! Worth every penny though! Here are some that I found today and have ordered. Stay tuned for Lily's new look :)

Also, I am becoming a HUGE fan of these cute Tutus!...check them out!
