Pediatric Update

Not sure what has come over me, but I am posting on our blog...

This just in, Molly is 18 months old!  What? She can't be, because she was just born and I was swaddling her in my arms.  Well, as it will always be hard to cope with, TIME FLIES, and my baby girl will soon be a big sister.

Weight: 28 lbs. 13 oz- 90%

Height: 33 1/2 in. - 90%

Noggin: 19 1/4 in. - 95%

Molly is nothing but sweet!  In fact it is the best way to describe her personality.  She loves her family and never passes up on a hug or kiss.  The quiet baby I once had is now competing with Lily when trying to get a word in. She has a lot to say but it is still hard to understand her reasoning.  She knows her MaMa and Dada, her Mo Mo and G Pa, Grandma and Grandpa! I recently learned what she calls Lily and it is an interesting iterpretation of Lil Lil.  Molly loves the dogs and cats and is sure to point them out most everywhere.  Her hair has stayed darker than Lily's ever was but it is growing beautifully with a small curl at the end. I love watching her grow and be her own person.  She is a delight and I am grateful for time alone with her!

Lily is on her way to being perfect

I made this simple, girlie behavior chart for Lily this week after last weekends experience of blow out tantrums.  I admit our current life situation (ie: living with my parents, in the basement, I'm pregnant and working a lot) does not bode well for a 3 year old, but her attitutde, whining, and defiance has been out of control!  Lily is a typical 3 year old girl...she has drama in her life, oh and she has a difficult time with her emotions, oh, and she doesn't know how to control herself.  Can I blame her?  Absolutely not, she is simply learning what it is like to be a girl, but now is the time for small interventions.  After briefly researching behavior charts and speaking with friends and their valued opinions I came up with something fun and exciting for Lily.

We are working on REALISTIC changes for Lily that I know she can handle beacuse I see her do them daily, just not consistently!  Make sense?  Here is what her chart consists...
#1. USE BIG GIRL VOICE (ie: for the love of all things good, noooooooooo whining before I jump across the room)
#2. STAY IN BED...alllll night until morning (ie: I'm pregnant and uncomfortable sleeping already, the last thing your Dad and I need is a foot in the face at 3am)
#3. GOOD MANNERS (this is actually something very easy for Lily, she is very good about saying 'yes sir, maam' 'please, and thank you' but I definetly want to continue to enforce it!)
#4. SWEET SISTER (ie: stop trying to be Molly's Mom, pay attention to her at the pool, remember she is your sister, always will be, and is never leaving)

Each day she has the opportunity to change the day of the week at the top of her chart. For all the good she does I will add a butterfly to her chart.  At the end of the week, we add them up and voila she sees her progress and I reward her!  Lily is excited about it and I am confident it will help!

Pediatric Update

It's that time again.....

My girls are growing! way. too. fast!

Lily -Three
Molly -One

Molly turned a ripe ONE year old on December 22 and Lily an oldie, but goodie THREE on December 26!  Our month of December was nothing short of a sh!# show...oh can I say that?  Well it was, okay, and it always will be! I can divulge more into it with another post.    

Our trip to the pediatricians was a successful one.  We killed two birds with one stone and had both their check ups together.  Lily was ecstatic about seeing the Doctor.  Who knew?  She listened so well to Dr. Reilly, whom we love so much.  Her gentle voice helps keep the kids calm and she is so patient. So patient, in fact, that Lily decided she wanted to sing the whole song 'Away in a Manger'.  Dr. Reilly sat with a smile and listened to the whole thing.  The entire appointment went surprisingly well!  Welllll, except for the fact that Lily had strep throat and we were unaware.  OOOPS! Sorry for the sore throat Lil, next time how about you tell me you have one, geeeez! Molly, she was healthy, which was the shocking part because I swear that poor girl has lived her life with a stuffy nose.  How normal can that be? Can we say allergies?  As soon as Claritin is an appropriate intervention for my little one she'll take it!

Weight: 21lbs 8oz (50-75%)
Height: 29.5in (50-75%)
Head Circumference: 18.5in (50-75%)
A much smaller babe Molly has proved to be, but I swear she is packing on some weight.  I pretty sure her hobby is eating. I make something, she eats it.  Oh how I love the days of the little ones not being picky eaters! Molly loves a good laugh with Lily.  She enjoys anytime spent with Daddy although is sometimes a Momma's girl! She can say 'uh oh' and shake her head 'no' like a champ. I have tried to replace the 'no' with Eskimo kisses which she has also become very good at!  She's a little bit of trouble which is what Lily likes to call her when Molly heads toward her with a big grin. She says, "Uh oh Mom, here comes Miss Trouble!"    It is quite cute!

The Perfect Storm

Must I write all this out?
December is our Perfect Storm.  Maybe not the true definition of a 'perfect storm' but here is mine.
PER*FECT STORM (noun)  a series of CRAZY events such as Molly's birthday, Lily's birthday, my niece and nephews birthdays and Christmas all in one month.

the day after Christmas a quick turn around to Lily's birthday. Pump it Up in Leesburg was the perfect place to celebrate!! The kids had a great time!

It is a storm with tenacious winds of busyness but perfect all at once! Looking forward to our craaaaziness every year!
